How Are Fibroadenoms Treated?

Classically, fibroadenomas with treatment indications are treated with surgery. However, operations due to recurrent fibroadenomas are annoying for many young women. Apart from the risks of repetitive operation and anesthesia, the scars on the breast skin due to the operation are another stress factor for the patients. Multifunctional needles were produced with the developing technology. Vacuum assisted biopsy needles are now used instead of the standard needles used in preoperative biopsies, and fibroadenomas can be completely removed.

CAN NON-SURGERY TREATMENT BE APPLIED TO ALL FIBROADEONMS?

Yes, it can be applied. With this new technique, all breast masses up to 4 cm, especially fibroadenomas, can be treated with a painless, bloodless procedure for a few minutes. The procedure can be performed during an ultrasound and our patient gets up immediately after the treatment and continues his daily activities. It requires no preparation. This method, which is more affordable than surgical treatments, has not become widespread in our country, as it can be performed by very few interventional radiologists. This new treatment method is successfully applied in a few private clinics.
