A Revolution in Breast Health: An Incision-Free, Pain-Free Solution with Non-Surgical Fibroadenoma Treatment

Every mass detected in breast tissue is a major source of concern for women. However, modern medicine is moving beyond the era of "surgically removing every mass." Today at our clinic, we are opening the door to healthy futures with Non-Surgical Fibroadenoma Treatment that completely eliminates our patients' aesthetic concerns and surgical fears.

What is Fibroadenoma? Why Does It Occur?

Fibroadenoma is the most common benign tumor of the breast. Although it is generally seen in young women between the ages of 15-35, it can appear in any age group. These masses, which are sensitive to estrogen hormone, can grow during menstrual periods, cause pain, or become noticeable enough to be felt by hand.

What Are the Signs of Fibroadenoma?

The basic characteristics that strengthen the likelihood that a mass is a fibroadenoma are:

  • Mobile Structure: When pushed with a finger, it slides easily under the skin (also known as "breast mouse" in common parlance).

  • Distinct Borders: Generally round or smooth-edged, rubber-like in consistency.

  • Pain Status: Usually painless, but rapidly growing masses may cause aching.

Traditional Surgery or Non-Surgical Method?

In the past, the only definite solution for fibroadenomas was surgical removal. However, surgery also brings some physical and psychological difficulties for patients.

Feature Surgical Procedure Non-Surgical Treatment (Ablation)
Anesthesia General Anesthesia (Anesthesia) Local Anesthesia (Regional)
Scarring Visible Surgical Scar No Scarring (Needle Entry)
Recovery Time 1-2 Weeks Same Day Return to Work
Breast Structure Volume Loss and Sagging Risk Natural Structure Preserved

How is Non-Surgical Fibroadenoma Treatment Performed? (Step by Step Process)

This procedure, performed within the interventional radiology discipline, is essentially a high-tech "melting" or "freezing" process. Among non-surgical methods, the most common and successful are Cryoablation (freezing to eliminate) and Radiofrequency/Laser Ablation (heating to eliminate) methods.

1. Preparation and Local Anesthesia

Generally, there is no fasting requirement before the procedure. In the examination setting, only the area where the mass is located is numbed with a very fine needle. The patient is awake during the procedure and can chat with us.

2. Precise Progress Under Ultrasound Guidance

Our biggest difference from surgery is that we work with real-time imaging, not "blindly." We determine the position of the mass millimetrically on the ultrasound screen.

3. Intervention with Treatment Probe

A special treatment probe is placed through only a needle-sized opening in the skin.

  • Cryoablation: The probe tip freezes the mass to approximately -40 degrees. An "ice ball" forms around the mass.

  • Thermal Ablation: Controlled heat is applied to the mass to render tissue cells ineffective.

4. Post-Procedure Monitoring

The treatment takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes. When the procedure is complete, the probe is withdrawn, a small bandage is applied to the entry site, and the patient is taken to the recovery room.

Doctor's Note: In non-surgical treatment, we do not remove the mass at that moment; we render it "dead." Your body's own cleansing mechanism eliminates this dead tissue over time, just like it reabsorbs a bruise.

7 Critical Advantages Provided by Non-Surgical Treatment

The main reasons our patients prefer this method are:

  1. Aesthetic Excellence: No incision scars, stitches, or deformity in the breast. This is particularly critical for young patients.

  2. Zero Hospitalization: You can return to your home or work immediately after the procedure.

  3. Psychological Comfort: No operating room environment, no fear of anesthesia, no surgical stress.

  4. Preservation of Breast Ducts: While milk ducts can be damaged during surgery, the ablation method focuses solely on the target mass. This is a major advantage for women planning to breastfeed in the future.

  5. Ease with Multiple Masses: Some of our patients may have multiple fibroadenomas. Removing each surgically damages breast structure; however, with the non-surgical method, multiple masses can be treated in the same session.

  6. Painless Process: Post-procedure pain relief needs are minimal.

  7. High Success Rate: Global clinical studies show that ablation methods are as effective as surgery in eliminating fibroadenomas.

Who is Suitable for This Treatment?

Not every breast mass is suitable for non-surgical treatment. Only a detailed radiological evaluation allows us to make this decision. Our general criteria are:

  • Fibroadenomas proven to be benign by biopsy.

  • Rapidly growing masses (generally 2 cm or larger).

  • Cases causing pain or aesthetic discomfort in the patient.

  • Stable masses radiologically that do not carry suspicion of cancer.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Does the mass disappear immediately after the procedure?

No, the mass dies at the moment of procedure but does not disappear in volume immediately. The body's reabsorption of this tissue can take 3 to 12 months depending on the mass size. During this time, the mass becomes smaller each passing day.

Does non-surgical treatment cause recurrence?

The likelihood of a completely eliminated fibroadenoma recurring at the same site is similar to the surgical method, meaning quite low. However, new masses may develop at other points in the breast.

Does the breast sag after the procedure?

In surgery, some healthy tissue is also removed along with the mass, so there is sagging risk. In the non-surgical method, since there is no tissue loss, breast shape is completely preserved.

Conclusion: Do Not Let Your Fears Get in the Way of Your Health

Breast health is not just physical but also a matter of emotional wholeness. Knowing that the mass in your breast is "benign" is sometimes not enough; feeling its presence can reduce your quality of life. It is possible to be freed from this burden without lying on the operating table, without leaving permanent scars in your body.
